Wade Matthews is an SCA Certified Roaster operating from Sylva, NC in the United States. He has trained in Sumatra with Lisa & Leo Organic in organic coffee farming in 2010 and eco friendly coffee processing in 2014. He received his formal training as a certified roaster with Manuel Diaz in Jakarta 2014. His career as a roaster started in Nebraska in 2015, then to Colorado in 2017 and finally starting his own business in 2019 which is Merantau Coffee.

Merantau (pronounced Meh-rahn` – tau ) is a word in Bahasa Indonesia that translates to “Leave home to learn a new skill or trade and bring that knowledge back home to improve the quality of life for yourself, family and local community” This phrase had an impact on Wade’s approach to business. (the movie was cool too)

Any product in the Website Shop is available from Merantau Coffee and roasted to order in Sylva, NC. All products purchased in the USA will receive an invoice from our PayPal business account and will include your shipping charges based on shipment from the roaster point of origin in NC, USA.
